There are no score parameters that you can use as a barometer. Our best suggestion is to submit to us those
customers that cannot get approval elsewhere. We will accept bankruptcies; late
pay judgments, delinquencies and high credit card balances. Approval amounts
are based on ability to pay, not on MSRP or type of unit.
How to Make It Work
The
best way to maximize this program is to write up the deal while the customer is
in the store and then allow him to collect the required documents as needed. I
have found that the customer is still excited about his purchase and is more
ambitious in acquiring the required documents, which results in a much higher
closing rate. Worst-case scenario – you can always unwind the deal. However, be
sure that an approval waiver accompanies each deal. In the larger dealerships I
have found that it is much easier to make one F & I
manager responsible for the credit challenged customer.
